The point of acupuncture!
Acupuncture is one of the most ancient systems of treatment known to mankind. It is also one of the fastest growing and most popular complementary therapies in the West. In the far-east it features in mainstream healthcare every day.
How does it work?
Acupuncturists work with the concept of ‘Qi’ which many think of as ‘life force’ or ‘energy’. Emotions, physical trauma, weather and diet are all factors which can upset the flow of our Qi, thus leading to illnesses and pain. Needling points on specific channels can rebalance and restore the bodies natural flow of Qi.
Is It Safe?
Acupuncture with a trained and fully qualified practitioner is one of the safest forms of healthcare. It can be used effectively alongside conventional medicine and is suitable for people of all ages, including pregnant women and children.
What Will Happen?
When you go for an acupuncture treatment, a detailed consultation which covers your health, lifestyle and symptoms, will enable your acupuncturist to select a combination of points that are right for you. Very fine needles are placed into these points on the body, and the patient is then left to relax for a short while.
Choosing the right acupuncturist
